SPECIAL ORDER POLICY
As a service to our customers we are glad to “special order” products. This would include:
-
Full cases (or bulk units) for a 10% discount.
-
Items that we do not carry. Some of them are available to us in single quantities, although many are only available by the case.
Note that while a majority of cases contain 12 units, they can be anywhere from 4 to 24.
Most items will be in within a week. If it will be longer, we will call and give an estimated time of arrival. If a product is needed sooner than within a week it can often be arranged – sometimes as soon as the next day – just let us know when placing the order.
When we receive the order we will call you. If you will not be able to pick the order up within a week, please let us know so we can hold on to it for you. Orders that are not picked up will be returned or stocked.
To receive a case discount it must be preordered. The exceptions are a few items like Penta water as well as some best selling milk alternatives and energy bars where we stock cases on regular basis at the 10% discount.
Sale prices are not eligible for additional discounts unless advertised as such. Also, sale prices are not guaranteed. If we receive a special order that was placed while an item is on sale we will be glad to give you the sale price if we can. However, the only guarantee of a sale price is to get it that day!
Case prices are not eligible for further discounts, including monthly member’s 10%. This includes products that we stock cases of on a regular basis.
Fare Thee Well, Sweet Sevananda
by Steve Cooke, former General Manager
By the time you read this, I will be hard at work creating a new cooperative market in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The Friendly City Food Co-op is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2011, and already has over 1000 members, even without a store open. The organizers have put everything in place to ensure our success and a prosperous future.
Personally, it will mark my return to Virginia and to the city where I attended college. The Shenandoah Valley is one of my favorite places on the planet with its green, rolling hills bordered by the Allegheny Mountains to the west and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the East. Washington, DC and Richmond, VA are both about two hours away, and most importantly to me, my 90 year-old Dad and the rest of my family are all only 4 hours away on the DelMarVa Peninsula across the Chesapeake Bay. It will also be nice to get back to four seasons every year, although we will miss the mild winters.
Sevananda has been a fabulous growth experience for me, and I know in my heart that I am a better person because of my 16 years here. Learning from all of you about relationships, communication, health and well-being, as well as how best to care for our Earth Mother has truly been a blessing to me and I will carry you all with me as I embark on this new endeavor and into the rest of my life.
Please take care of one another, and know that you are all beautiful and to be given the utmost respect by your fellow co-op member-owners and human beings which you may encounter. Know that, as the Four Agreements of don Miguel Ruiz tell us:
1. Be impeccable with your word. Don’t use your word in a negative way against others, and especially not against yourself.
2. Don’t take anything personally. If someone comes at you with less than impeccable words, know that it is more about their own self than it is about you.
3. Don’t make assumptions. Once you begin climbing up the ladder of inference without checking the truth of the basis for your thoughts, you can go far off the path of fairness.
4. Always do your best. Even on your worst of days, striving to achieve these four agreements will serve you well.
It is my highest intention that Sevananda will continue to grow and thrive and serve the community for many years to come and that you find it within yourselves to figure out the best way to get along and broaden your reach to include all of those who may feel like outsiders. What Sevananda has to offer is larger than the products you sell (or don’t sell) and so much more than just a grocery store. You hold the key to the sustainable future of socially responsible commerce in the world. Be the change. Open your hearts and minds to all regardless of their lifestyle, and know that you can have a greater impact on others if you remove the walls keeping you apart.
Peace and blessings to you and yours. Come see me in Virginia.
